Even before the start of the series against England, India suffered a huge injury blow. Their premium fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah will be missing the forthcoming ODI and T20 series after fracturing his finger, as per Times of India.

The news outlet reported that Bumrah suffered the injury during the T20 series in Ireland on Friday.  Bumrah will be returning home, hoping to be fit for the five-match Test series that starts in Birmingham on August 1.

“Bumrah’s injury will be a blow for the Indian team – considering his form and accuracy in shorter formats of the game. But he was very good in the Tests in South Africa as well, and team management will hope that he gets fit in time for the Test series against England. It’s a big blow for India. Hope his replacement will do a good job of it,” a source told the news outlet.

With England batsmen in sublime form at the moment, the Indian team management will have a tough time replacing Bumrah.

So here we take a look at four players who can replace the star pacer:

4. Mohammad Siraj:

Siraj knows it pretty well what does it take to excel at the highest stage of the game.

Having already made his T20I debut for India, the team-management can pin their hopes on him. Siraj, however, will have to do well this time around, as he is yet to prove his worth.

He was in good form in this year’s IPL, picking up 11 wickets and will be looking to prove himself if the chance comes his way.

3. Prasidh Krishna:

Prasidh Krishna was one of the finds in this year’s IPL. Signed in as the injury replacement by Kolkata Knight Riders, Krishna made an instant impression, finishing the season with ten wickets in just seven games.

His performance helped him earn his maiden India A call-up for the ongoing ODI tri-series in England.

His ability to extract good pace can make him an x-factor in favourable English conditions.

2. Shardul Thakur:

Having already made his ODI and T20I team, the Mumbai pacer is well aware of the rigours of international cricket.

With experience as well as form on his side, he can be a good replacement.

The right-arm pacer picked up 16 wickets in this year’s IPL and is doing well in the ongoing ODI tri-series in England for India A. In three games; Thakur has picked up six wickets.

The pacer has enhanced his reputation by leaps and bounds with his performance for Chennai Super Kings in this year’s IPL.

In 12 games, he picked up ten wickets at an average of less than 28. His ability to extract swing impressed one and all. The performance helped him earn his maiden India A call-up for the ongoing ODI tri-series in England.

And he has justified the decision by picking up seven wickets in three games including a five-wicket haul. With form on his side, Chahar can be a good bet for India.
