Team India is undoubtedly one of the most dominant teams in the world at the moment if not the best. They have played some exciting cricket over the past two years and is one of the hot contenders to lift the World Cup next year. Their batting line-up looks pretty exceptional, and their bowling line-up is world class as well.
Currently, Virat Kohli is the skipper of the Indian team across all three formats of the game. He had led them admirably and already boasts of some records which haven’t been emulated by any other captain.
However, the workload has been tremendous on Kohli ever since taking up the captaincy on a permanent basis from Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The team management might well decide to make a new captain in the shortest format to relive Virat off is duties a little.
Rohit Sharma is a good candidate for the role. He is the most successful captain alongside Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the IPL.
Here are five possible reasons why Rohit Sharma might be a better captain than Virat Kohli in the shortest format:
Consistent skipper for Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma has been the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League. In the just short span of time, Rohit had led Mumbai to three IPL titles.
He had led the team quite admirably and has been quite prompt with his bowling changes.
However, his tactics didn’t quite work out in the 2018 edition, as Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs. Rohit had done the small things very well which has helped Mumbai in their long run. But he got criticised for not opening the batting on a consistent basis.
Workload should be divided
Virat Kohli is the skipper of the Men in Blue across all three formats of the game. Kohli has an admirable record across formats and has already achieved things which no Indian captain ever has.
Rohit has a great record as a T20I skipper. He has been a game changer with both bat and his decisions.
Hence on that front, Rohit might be an ideal captain candidate in favour of Virat Kohli. The latter needs to have some space and concentrate on the other two formats of the game.
Never say die attitude

Rohit Sharma is a captain who won’t give up until the last bit. Despite being in dire situations, he had helped his franchise Mumbai Indians come from a hopeless situation and qualified for the playoffs.
He had led India quite a few times in the shortest format and has done an outstanding job.
The Mumbai Indians had brilliant comebacks in the IPL. His attitude will certainly be a huge factor if he gets picked as the captain and the presence of Kohli and Dhoni will also help him.
Leading from the front
The right-hander has been a brilliant batsman for India and the Mumbai Indians over the years and has excelled over a consistent period.
Rohit had led from the front as a batsman who had helped his team win on the most occasions. Rohit has been quite sensational in limited-overs cricket, and ever since being elevated as an opener, he had done wonders for the team.
Calm and composed demeanour
Unlike Kohli, Rohit is a lot like MS Dhoni. He is very calm and composed and does thing without speaking too much.
He doesn’t like the verbal duels like a Virat Kohli, and that might help in the shortest format. Rohit can combine well with Dhoni which might help India in the longer run.
He can be a great candidate for the leadership if the team management is planning to free Kohli of the captaincy duties in T20I’s.
