Former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail is the latest cricketer to place Misbah-Ul-Haq and co. on the firing line for their performance in the ongoing Test against England in Southampton.
Pakistan’s toothless bowling attack conceded 583 while their batting line-up managed only 273 in reply as the hosts enforced a follow-on. In his latest Youtube video, Aamer Sohail slammed the players as well as the coaching panel for the national team’s underperformance.

The pair of Jos Buttler and Zak Crawley put on 359 for the fifth wicket, rescuing England to safety after they found themselves in strife at 129-4. Some late blows from the likes of Dom Bess, Stuart Broad, and Chris Woakes lifted them to an imposing 583. By the end of the second day, the visitors were 24-3, having lost their openers and Babar Azam.
It was the stand of 138 between Mohammad Rizwan and Azhar Ali that restored pride while the skipper remained unbeaten at 141. Aamer Sohail began by talking about leggie Yasir Shah, criticising him for giving away 150 runs. Sohail added that it has become a hallmark of Yasir Shah’s bowling whenever he bowls long spells without picking too many wickets.
“I saw a little effort in this match from Yasir Shah. He used his driving arm better but unluckily he again conceded more than 150 runs. It has become a feature of Yasir Shah’s bowling that he is conceding more than 150 runs whenever he bowls a long spell. If your bowler concedes so many runs and doesn’t dismiss too many batsmen, your chances become very less,” Sohail stated.
Why have the coaches been kept?: Aamer Sohail
Aamer Sohail added by saying that Naseem Shah does not have a consistent bowling action and the follow-through not repeatable. The former Pakistan opener conceded that he has been advising the coaches for a long time; however, there exist no improvement. The 53-year old also said that Shaheen Afridi has been in decline.
“Coming to Naseem Shah, he does not have a repeatable action. The follow through of his arm is not consistent. And I have been saying repeatedly that it has been such a long time for our coaches but you don’t see any improvement. And when we talk about Shaheen Afridi, he should have improved but you can see a decline happening suddenly,” he added.
