Aaron Finch, Australian white-ball captain, and swashbuckling opener has expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing under the leadership of Virat Kohli in the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Finch will become the first player in the history of the cash-rich league for as many as eight different teams. The Australian opener kickstarted his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2010 before moving on to Delhi Capitals in 2011 and 2012, Pune Warriors India in 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014, Mumbai Indians in 2015, Gujarat Lions in 2016, Kings XI Punjab in 2018 and finally Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Hailing Kohli’s competitiveness and his passion on the field, Finch said that he is looking forward to playing for a franchise like RCB, which boasts of “some of the greatest players in the world”
“Its going to be fun.I know how competitive and driven he is. I can’t wait to join up with RCB. To get the opportunity to play for a franchise that has some of the greatest players in the world is going to be fun. It would have been amazing to play in front of the home crowd at Chinnaswamy but representing the franchise in UAE will still mean a huge amount to me,” Aaron Finch told ANI.
“It will be my first time playing under Virat’s leadership but something I’m very excited about. Having played against him for a number of years now in international cricket and IPL I know how driven and competitive he is, that something I’m looking forward to seeing up close.” he added.

‘I hope my experience will come in handy’- Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch has been leading the Australian white-ball team for two years now. Under his leadership, Australia scripted a renaissance of sorts in One-day cricket after a couple of dismal seasons and made its way to the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup.
Finch is hoping that his leadership experience will help ease some of the pressure off Kohli’s shoulders.
“I hope that my experience will come in handy, being able to help out anyone I can during the IPL. If that means I can help take some pressure off Virat then I will do everything I have to,” he said.
The Australian captain further added that Virat Kohli, along with his compatriot Steve Smith, stands apart from the rest of the modern-day batsmen because of their ability to nail all the three formats.
“As for the best batsman in the world, you could throw a blanket over a handful of players over 3 formats. The consistency of Steve Smith and Virat Kohli in Test cricket both home and away over a long period of time probably makes them stand out from the rest,” added Finch.
The 13th edition of the IPL will kickstart from September 19 in the UAE.
