Virat Kohli, on Sunday, gobsmacked every cricket fan as well as the pundits as he pulled off his AB de Villiers moniker to pull-off an audacious scoop over fine-leg at the expense of Andrew Tye.

After having struggled for timing during the first 10 balls of his innings, the Indian captain shifted gears with absolute disdain.

It all started with a sumptuous inside-out six off Adam Zampa in the 12th over-the same over in which India had lost the crucial wicket of half-centurion Shikhar Dhawan.

But it was really in the 15th over of the Indian innings bowled by Andrew Tye in which the charismatic batsman showed his complete range.

He started off with a trademark pull over square-leg, one that fetched him a boundary. And, then that THAT moment finally arrived.

On the fourth ball of the same over, Virat Kohli moved across his off-stump, got down on one knee before picking the bones out of the delivery, scooping it over fine-leg for a six.

Virat was eventually dismissed for a 24-ball 40 by Daniel Sams but it really didn’t matter in the end as Hardik Pandya’s stunning knock (42*off 22 balls) helped India get over the line.

During the post-match interview, Virat Kohli admitted to surprising himself with the stroke, before adding that he will text AB de Villiers and ask him about his views on the shot.

”It (scoop over fine leg) was a bit of funny moment, surprised myself there, I will send AB a text tonight and see what he thinks of it,”

Well! It seems that ABD has given his approval to the audacious stroke. The former South Africa batsman commented on a tweet posted by Wisden India-
