It was an all-around show by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) went down fighting. AB de Villiers was at his best, scoring 69 runs off 39 balls apart from taking a blinder – to send back Alex Hales. RCB kept their hopes of making it to the playoffs alive.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sreevats Goswami, who replaced Wriddhiman Saha, lauded his skipper Kane Williamson’s efforts with the bat.

The skipper of the Orange Army scored a gutsy 81 off 42 balls, which included five sixes and seven fours.

Apart from him, Manish Pandey too chipped in with a 38-ball 62. Chasing 219 to win, Hyderabad went on to make 204/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

Goswami’s tweet read: “Part of an epic match last night, although ended up on a losing side but witnessed some great skills from both the team, is there a better Batsman then Kane Williamson across all the format? And that catch by abd”.

Pietersen bowls a wrong’un:

That wasn’t the only talking point from the game as Kevin Pietersen responded to Goswami’s tweet, saying Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are better than Kane Williamson.

Pietersen has always been an extrovert who never shied away from expressing his opinion. The former English cricketer wasn’t the only one who applauded AB’s brilliance.

Kohli himself hailed the Proteas’ great. The South African cricketer AB de Villiers was awarded Man of the Match trophy.

“It’s an amazing feeling when they chant my name. I look to put pressure on the bowlers. I’m human after all. If I get one or two away, I have momentum going my way. With the catch, I made it look tougher than it was. It curved away late, luckily it stuck. I got into a bad position. It’d be great to make the knockouts. Lot’s got to happen. We have to win the next game, then it comes down to run rates,” de Villiers said after sealing a 14-run win.
