Abdul Razzaq Speaks On Danish Kaneria Religious Discrimination Controversy
Abdul Razzaq has joined the long list of Pakistani players reacting to Shoaib Akhtar’s sensational statement regarding Danish Kaneria. The former Pakistan pacer had sensationally claimed that Danish Kaneria faced religious discrimination in the Pakistan dressing room.
Akhtar alleged that the players were not even ready to eat from the same table with Danish Kaneria and the latter never got credits for his fine performances. After Akhtar’s allegations, Danish Kaneria also stated the same and threatened to expose the players who mistreated him because of his religion.

Following the comments from Shoaib Akhtar and Danish Kaneria, the likes of Javed Miandad, Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq and several other former cricketers had given their opinions on it. And in a recent interview, Abdul Razzaq also decided to express his views on the entire episode. The outspoken former allrounder downplayed the entire episode, saying that Kaneria did not face any issue because of his religion.
“To me, this whole matter seems to have been created out of thin air. There is no truth in what Kaneria asserted because if religion was an issue, then as a Hindu he would never have played for Pakistan. He was always an integral part of the Pakistan side and to hold that stature on any side is a matter of honour for any player, regardless of what their background is. He was always respected on and off the field by all players, so I do not think there is any room for controversy regarding his religion and treatment in the Pakistan team,” Abdul Razzaq told PakPassion.net.
Danish Kaneria, meanwhile, is the fourth highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Test. With 261 wickets to his name, he is only behind Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan in the list. No other spinner from Pakistan has taken more Test wickets than Kaneria. The leg-spinner, however, is facing a lot of trouble and is unemployed from the last one decade after being banned for life for spot-fixing scandal.
