Atif Mashal, the chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), has thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India after the Indian cricket board accepted their Afghanistan counterpart’s request to provide a home ground.

The ACB official took to Twitter to reveal the news and stated that the official announcement of the deal would be announced on Wednesday (January 17). Meanwhile, the latest development is yet another brilliant gesture from the BCCI to help Afghanistan cricket.

In the past too, the BCCI had allowed Afghanistan to use Greater Noida as their home ground. In March 2017, Ireland had toured India to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs), three Twenty20 International (T20Is) and an ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Afghanistan. All the matches were played at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground. Before that, Afghanistan Under-19 team had used the ground as their home ground to prepare for the Under-19 World Cup.

“We are thankful to @BCCI for accepting our request to provide @ACBofficials with another home ground, in addition to Greater Noida, in India. Final details about this agreement will be announced tomorrow.”

The Indian board has consistently backed Afghanistan and recently announced that the war-ravaged will play their-first ever Test  against India in Bangalore from June 14.

Last year in June, Afghanistan, and Ireland joined the ranks of full member nations of the International Cricket Council.
