The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has initiated bidding for the franchises. It eventually came to the forth for the upcoming edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL).
Meanwhile, Afghanistan cricket, in particular, is on an upsurge with players making a mark in international cricket by their remarkable performances. As a result, it was likely that they will come with their own Twenty20 domestic league.
Meanwhile, the first edition of the tournament will house five-teams. Moreover, 23 matches are scheduled during an inaugural edition.
ACB has invited bid proposals from interested firms, LLP’s, corporate and consortiums for the franchise ownership rights. The distinct teams will have their base while considering the five different cities in the form of Kabul, Balkh, Nangarhar, Paktia, and Kandahar.
The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has given them the rights and the access to host the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The coast seems rather clear for the hosting of the historic T20 league.
“The tender bid forms will be made available online at www.aplt20.tv from 15 July 2018. The deadline for pre-bid clarification is July 20, 2018, at 4 pm. The last date for submission of the bids is 26 July 2018, at 5 pm,” states the notification.
“The bids should be submitted… at the office of the APL Sports Tournament Organising Services on the 19th floor, Conrad Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road, PO Box 5y610, Dubai, UAE,” it added.
The APL bids evaluation committee of Afghanistan Cricket Board will open the bidding procedure on 27 July. Moreover, the announcement of the finalized franchises will be made public in the last week of this month.
