Ajinkya Rahane Donates Rs 10 Lakh To Combat Coronavirus Pandemic

India’s vice-captain in Test cricket, Ajinkya Rahane has decided to donate Rs. 10 Lakh to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the country. India has been widely affected by the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus and the cases keep on increasing with days passing by. Consequently, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent the state into a complete lockdown from March 25. Cricketing action in the country has also come to a standstill.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Saturday,  pledged to donate Rs 51 crore in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has been wreaking havoc across the world. As of now, more than 20,000 people have succumbed to the deadly outbreak.

Ajinkya Rahane Donates Rs 10 Lakh To Fight Coronavirus

Ajinkya Rahane has donated Rs 10 lakh to the Maharastra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. This was confirmed to PTI on Sunday by a source close to Rahane, who joins the list of sportspersons who have contributed towards the fight against the pandemic. Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has donated Rs 50 lakh, while former India player Suresh Raina has chipped in with Rs 52 lakh.

Major Cricketing Events Come To A Hold After Coronavirus

Recently, the IPL 2020 was postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak. To the disappointment of the cricket fans, the India-South Africa ODI series has also been called off. Apart from it, the Road Safety World Series has also been suspended. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) suffered the same fate as it was postponed just before the knockouts.
