Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Dravid shared a light moment post the unofficial Test between India A and England Lions.

Team India vice-captain in Tests, Ajinkya Rahane, is already in England preparing for the five-match series starting from August 1st.

Rahane was part of the India A which lost to the England Lions by 253 runs at the New Road Stadium in Worcester. It was a thoroughly professional performance by the home team ahead of the much-anticipated Test series.

It is expected to be a crackerjack of a contest, especially after six intriguing limited-overs matches. While India won the T20I series by a 2-1 margin, England just turned the results in their direction in the ODI series.

They lived up to their reputation of being the No 1 ODI team in the world. Rahul Dravid who is the coach of the India U-19 and A teams was seen sharing a light moment with Rahane.

Rahane’s time with Dravid

Taking to his twitter handle, Rahane shared a photo with Dravid with a beautiful caption,

“Always a pleasure meeting Rahul Bhai. Loved batting with him…. now love chatting all things cricket and much more with him!! #legend.”

Rahane and Dravid have played a very few Tests together. It was Dravid who Rahane grew up hero worshipping.

The unofficial Test

Hence the line was just the testimony of how much respect Rahane has for Dravid. The latter is still regarded as one of the finest batsmen from the nation to go and rule world cricket for a long period of time. Rahul Dravid is among those very few players who have 10,000+ runs in both Tests and ODI cricket.

Meanwhile coming back to the unofficial Test between England Lions and India A, the match was utterly dominated by the home team.

India A was never in the match, as they failed to build partnerships on a consistent basis. Rahane played well in both the innings but couldn’t quite convert his starts into a big one. He felt one short of a well-deserved fifty in the first innings while just two short of the landmark in the 2nd innings.

Ajinkya will be a vital cog for India in the upcoming Test series.
