India’s rampant middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane has said that winning a World Cup for the country is what he dreams of as a cricketer. Rahane is currently playing in the ongoing India-New Zealand Test series.

Although he has been a regular starter for India in Test cricket, his place in the limited-overs format has been a topsy-turvy one.

In a quick question-answer round with India Today consulting editor Boria Majumdar, Rahane conceded that the one dream he still harbours a cricketer is to win the World Cup for the country.

Ajinkya Rahane Opens Up On Life After Becoming A Father

Rahane was blessed with a baby girl last year in October. However, he was on a national duty playing for India in the first Test against South Africa when his wife Radhika gave birth to their first child.

“Really enjoying my fatherhood. I think it is a blessing. I still remember when I got to know when we in Vizag playing South Africa in 1st Test and after that Test match I straight went to Mumbai to see my daughter,” Rahane said

“After every Test match, I am going home and spending time with my daughter. It is a completely different feeling. I have no problem waking up late at night taking care of my daughter. Even I tell Radhika that when I am home with the daughter she can sleep without any worries. I think it is really great fun,” Rahane added.

Talking about his wife, Rahane said that he was lucky to have an ‘understanding’ person like Radhika in his life.

“I am really lucky to have Radhika in my life. She does not like limelight so you won’t be seeing her much. It looks very easy on the outside but it very hard for your partner as you do not get to spend much time together. So when we are on tour we go out for dinner even if I am tired. She is very understanding. She knows what is important to me. What my passion is. It is all about taking care of them. When I come after a match or practice, I think about them and take care of them,” said the right-handed batsman.
