Former India fast bowler Ajit Agarkar was hesitant in opining about the future of 2011 World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni as he has not featured in competitive cricket for a long time now. It was at the World Cup 2019 MS Dhoni made his last appearance in international cricket. The IPL 2020 was supposed to stage his comeback but the tournament has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic situation.

Dhoni carries a big stature for all his achievements for the national team. He made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. Dhoni has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.

All the success has made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he is on the field. Now when speculations about his future is rife, the one question, almost everyone ex-cricketer or coach is being asked is about what is next on the cards for the former India captain.

Ajit Agarkar: If someone is not playing cricket then there is no point giving opinion on them or discussing about

Ajit Agarkar was asked about the future of MS Dhoni by cricket expert Aakash Chopra to which he had pretty straightforward response. Agarkar believes it should be his call completely and he has no idea if he had any communication with the selectors. He also added if someone is not playing cricket then there is no point giving opinion on them or discussing about them.

“I don’t know actually. Retiring or not retiring is MS Dhoni’s call. To select or to not select is selectors’ call, if he fits in their plan. I don’t know, for the player who hasn’t played for a year, for me it will be difficult. Don’t know about the communication between MS Dhoni and team management or with the selectors,” Ajit Agarkar told Aakash Chopra in an interview.

“We don’t know about that. It will be difficult talking about an individual player but I will like to see the player playing cricket. If someone is not playing cricket then there is no point giving opinion on them or discussing about. I know people discuss about Dhoni because he has not retired and he has not playing also,” he added.

Dhoni continues to remain silent about his future.
