We Are Preparing Akbar Ali And Co For ICC World Cup 2023 - Khaled Mahmud

Who would have expected Bangladesh to win the U19 Trophy beating the strong Indian team? But the young Bangladesh unit led by Akbar Ali surprised one and all with their incredible show in the middle. Speaking of the same, the chairman of Game Development Committee Khaled Mahmud lauded Tigers’ youngsters.

He stated that they are looking at the current unit as the stars for Bangladesh in future and would like to give them an intense training to make them be available for the upcoming 2023 ICC World Cup, which will be played in India.

In the meantime, the director of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also added that they are figuring out the players from the age group cricket tournaments to start preparation for the title defence in the next U19 World Cup. He believes Bangladesh can repeat the feat once again in future.

“This is a big sign for cricket. There is a lot of play under our game development, that is the result. Under 14,15,16 are played at three levels. Also, the play has been continued in 64 districts throughout the year. We have already picked 30-35 players for the U-19 team. From there, they will be prepared for the next Under-19 World Cup in India,” Khaled Mahmud said.

Further, Mahmud wants Bangladesh to produce at least one batsman, who can find a place in the Top 10 Rankings of ICC on a consistent basis. He believes all the U19 youngsters, who brought laurels to Bangladesh have the potential to do the job.

Also, Mahmud hinted the players will get a chance in the ICC World Cup 2023 based on their show.

“Like Shakib, we have to make another all-rounder. There has to be one of the top ten batsmen in the world from Bangladesh. And these World Cup-winning players are capable of this,” he said.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out for Bangladesh.

So far, they have made a tremendous rise in world cricket and would like to repeat the show in the near future.
