Recently, the superstar of cricket, AB de Villiers has called curtains on his career. The team has seen many upside downs after his retirement. A section of people is too harsh on the marathon man for his call to play franchise cricket rather than playing for the country. Meanwhile, Allan Donald respects the decision of the individual.

Ever since the retirement of AB de Villiers, South Africa is finding it tough to get the team balance right. The poor form of Hashim Amla also made things look tough for the team. However, the emergence of youngsters has given them a great boost ahead of the major event.

Speaking of the same, Allan Donald quoted that he heard about the return of AB de Villiers for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 but he doesn’t think it is going to happen. Further, he also asked people to respect individual decision to play the sport as well.

David Miller will be key – Allan Donald

Meanwhile, in absence of AB de Villiers, Allan Donald relied his trust on David Miller. He asked the southpaw to deliver the goods for the country, especially in the grand event.

‘If you look at where AB has left us, Miller is absolutely key for South Africa at this World Cup,’ Donald told Sport24. I would but I think the rest of the world hopes that AB doesn’t make a last minute U-turn and avail himself for Cricket World Cup selection. I read that AB said he would sit down with Cricket South Africa, but I can’t see de Villiers returning to the international fold for South Africa.”

‘I think he has made his mind up and that is fair enough. Everyone has their own opinions on AB calling time on his Proteas career and some are harsher than others. I still believe that it’s an individual’s absolute right to say, “I have made a call and am moving on.” AB has decided to move on and you have to respect that.’

Recently, South Africa has dominated things against Pakistan after losing a couple of games. However, they finally found the right balance in the team with all the youngsters delivered the goods on a consistent basis.

Well, as Allan Donald said, it is tough to see AB de Villiers making a return to the game. It would be interesting to see how South Africa would cope up with the pressure of the grand event.
