Australia women batter Alyssa Healy has opened up on the Indian team’s cancellation of England tour, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. While international cricket in the men’s arena began on the 8th of July after nearly four months, most of it either remains postponed or cancelled as the risk of the infection lingers. England and West Indies men’s team are squaring off in a Test series in England.

The Indian team was supposed to visit England in June to play three T20Is and three ODIs. But the expedition was called off this weak. Alyssa Healy’s remark is significant as she is one of the top-notch and amongst the prominent women cricketers in the world, having played a crucial part in their victory in the 2020 T20 World Cup in March.

She plundered 75 off only 39 balls that helped Australia to post a winning total of 184 as India fell short by 85 runs.

Healy expressed her unhappiness as Sydney-based journalist Rick Eyre posted an eye-opening question on Twitter as “Why is it harder to send the Indian national women’s team to England than it is to send the entire IPL to the UAE?”

To the same, the Queensland-born replied that “Would be sad to see it not happen especially with the hope of a WC (World Cup) early next year.” The Women’s World Cup is slated to take place in New Zealand in 2021 from the 6th of February to the 7th of March. A high-profile tour of England would have indeed assisted with the preparations ahead of the World Cup.

Nevertheless, the ECB was in conversations with the Indian and South African counterparts to host a tri-series in tri-series in September. However, it remains highly uncertain when the country can begin training with the infection cases not slowing down. Thus far, India has recorded over 12 lakh cases alongside 30000 casualties.
