Veteran batsman Ambati Rayudu and his wife Chennupalli Vidya have welcomed their first child. The right-handed batsman married his college sweetheart Chennupalli Vidya in 2009.

Chennai Super Kings’ official Twitter handle confirmed the news. The IPL franchise posted an adorable selfie of the Rayudu family. Ambati Rayudu clicked the selfie with his wife and the newborn in the background.

The post from Chennai Super Kings is drawing congratulatory messages from all around. India star and Ambati Rayudu’s IPL teammate Suresh Raina was also quick to congratulate the new parents, tweeting:

“Heartiest congratulations @RayuduAmbati & Vidya on the birth of your daughter. Such a blessing! Cherish each & every moment with the little one & wishing you all lots of love & happiness!”

Ambati Rayudu’s cricket career, meanwhile, has gone through a rollercoaster in the last one year or so. At the beginning of 2019, he was an integral part of the Indian team and was looking set to be in India’s squad for the World Cup. However, things changed in a blink of an eye after he failed to impress in the home series against Australia.

He was not picked in the squad as the selectors surprisingly selected Vijay Shankar. And when the likes of Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal were added to the World Cup squad during the tournament as injury replacements, Ambati Rayudu sensationally announced his retirement.

He, however, overturned his decision a couple of months later. He represented Hyderabad in Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy before deciding to skip the previous edition of the Ranji Trophy due to politics in team-selection.
