Ambati Rayudu will lead Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare one-day quarterfinal match against Andhra.
After skipping the league stage of country’s premier 50-over tournament, Ambati Rayudu has made himself available for the knockout stage of the competition. Prior to that, Rayudu had made his comeback in the Indian ODI team during the Asia Cup. He scored 165 runs in the six games with a top score of 60.
But he surprisingly decided to give the Vijay Hazare Trophy miss. According to Hyderabad Cricket Association secretary Sheh Narayan, Rayudu had not informed the association about the absence.
“Rayudu has not got in touch with us about the reasons about his absence. Maybe he has informed the selectors or the Committee of Administrators. At the start of the season we had appointed him captain for all forms but strangely he had decided to stay away from the group stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy,” Narayan said.
Well, the right-handed batsman is now ready to lead his state side in the crucial clash. Hyderabad qualified for the knockout stage after finishing fifth in the joint Group A and B table.
They announced the squad for the upcoming stage on Wednesday. The five-man selection committee led by Noel David made three changes in the team that played in the Group `B’ league phase in New Delhi.
Rayudu has replaced Himalay Agarwal. The selectors also included India under-19 all-rounder Ajay Dev Goud and fast bowler Mudassir, who have replaced Ashish Reddy and Mohammed Siraj. Siraj is currently with the Indian team for the ongoing Test series against West Indies.
Hyderabad will take on Andhra at Bengaluru on October 15.
