The ace fast bowler Andrew Tye set to go under the knives for an Elbow Surgery. It would certainly rule him out from the action for at least 3-4  months. It means that Andrew Tye will not be in the squad for the important home season upfront.

Having been named in their squad of 14 for the ongoing three-match visit of Sri Lanka, Tye picked up the injury last Friday during a fielding drill ahead of the opening game at the Adelaide Oval. He was replaced in the squad by Sean Abbott.

Andrew Tye will undergo surgery on November 4th:

Scans revealed that Tye requires surgery and will miss three to four months of cricket, which includes the entire BBL. Tye’s injury is a blow to Australia’s plans ahead of the T20 World Cup 2020. His skills with the ball in home conditions have been brilliant in the recent past.

However, he will not be ruled out of the grand event with a good time left for him to recover. Andrew Tye is the second bowler to stay away from the action following Jason Behrendorff, who also set to go under the knives for the back injury.

“He will undergo surgery next Monday,” a CA official said to Cricbuzz. “Initial prognosis suggests he could be out three to four months.”

So far, Andrew has taken 37 wickets in 26 T20Is although his economy rate stands at 8.87 which is the fourth highest of a bowler. However, he has always been a wicket-taker for the team.

Though Australia will have less impact of missing him, it is Perth Scorchers, who will be worried, as Andrew Tye is their key bowler in the Big Bash League. Alongside him, Jason Behrendorff’s absence will certainly knock them down.
