Kings XI Punjab head coach Anil Kumble concentrated on positives after his side failed to win their first game against Delhi Capitals. Kings XI Punjab rode on Mayank Agarwal’s whirlwind 89 in pursuit of 158 but could only tie the scores even after needing a single to win off three balls. The 2014 edition’s runners-up lost the super over battle; however, Anil Kumble is looking forward to ousting their next opponents, RCB.

In contrast, RCB made a winning start to their campaign, beating SunRisers Hyderabad by ten runs. The Virat Kohli-led side’s batting department revolved around fifties by debutant Devdutt Padikkal and AB De Villiers that lifted their side to 163. The franchise defended the total through stunning bowling performances by Yuzvendra Chahal and Navdeep Saini. Hence, the Kings from Punjab are the side slightly under pressure.

Anil Kumble acknowledged the potency of RCB’s batting line-up, consisting of Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, and Aaron Finch. He also admitted that the 19-year old Devdutt Padikkal played exceptionally well; however, stated they have plans for them.

RCB has a very strong batting lineup with Virat (Kohli), AB (de Villiers) and Aaron Finch, (all) very experienced as well. Young (Devdutt) Padikkal batted really well for them in the last game. But we have our plans,” Anil Kumble stated as quoted by News18.

The 132-Test veteran added that the entire side possesses the ability; hence, it all depends on who plays well on that particular day. Kumble underlined that their preparations have been top-notch and are aware what they must do to bounce back from the loss to Delhi Capitals. RCB and KXIP have squared off in 24 games, winning 12 each.

I think we have the ability to put it across, so it all depends on the day who plays well. Our preparations over the last one month has been really good and we are very positive after the Delhi Capitals game as to what we need to do and what are the corrections that we need to make,” the 49-year old added.
