Ankit Tiwari Spellbound By Dwayne Bravo’s Stunning Six Off Jasprit Bumrah

Chennai Super Kings were looking down and out in their much-anticipated comeback game against Mumbai Indians. The two-time IPL champions were returning to the league after a two-year gap. Not surprisingly, all eyes were on them. However, the script unfolded on an unexpected note.

Chasing 166, the Super Kings made heavy weathers of the chase. At one stage, it looked all over for them. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were five down with just 75 on the board. Their condition further deteriorated when they were reduced to 118 for 8 in the 17th over.

But the Super Kings once again showed why they are one of the most successful teams in the league. With their backs against the wall, Dwayne Bravo played a blinder to guide the team to a stunning win. The West Indies star scored 68 off just 30 balls as the Super Kings chased down the total with a ball remaining.

Chennai won the game by 1 wicket

He launched his assault in the 18th over, hitting Mitchell McClenaghan for 19 runs. The following over was even a better one as Jasprit Bumrah faced Bravo’s wrath. The allrounder hit the India pacer for three sixes to all but seal the game’s fate. And one can say that the first of those three sixes was the shot of the game. Bumrah missed his yorker marginally and it was enough for Bravo to hit a maximum over long-off. With that shot, he also completed his fifty off just 25 balls.

And such was the beauty of that shot that even Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari could not stop himself from lauding it. He took to Twitter to hail the shot, writing:

Speaking after the game, Bravo hailed the team effort and dedicated the win to the fans.

“It was a great team effort. Want to dedicate this win to CSK fans. They waited so long for this moment. I’m happy to contribute with a match-winning performance. CSK have shown lot of faith in me. Wanted to give myself the best opportunity to start well. Have been working a lot on my batting. Here at Wankhede, once you bat deep, chances are you could win the game. It’s a small outfield, ball comes onto the bat. They bowled in my areas. Just happy with the win tonight.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
