England cricketer James Anderson talked about his experience playing the first Test of the Ashes 2023 at Edgbaston. He said Test he didn’t enjoy a single over he bowled and it wasn’t his favourite game at all.

The first Test of the Ashes 2023 kept everyone on their toes as each and every ball of the game had something written on it. The competition between bat and ball was enthralling but in the end, it was Australia that emerged victorious and took a lead of 1-0.

While it was an exciting game for almost everyone, veteran James Anderson had to toil hard. The right-arm pacer didn’t look in his rhythm and bowled poor lines and lengths. He was quite vocal about the pitch being poor and even said that if all the surfaces will be the same, he’s done with his series.

James Anderson managed just 1 wicket in the entire game and wasn’t looking good. His poor rhythm even cost England as skipper Ben Stokes was forced to share a new ball with Ollie Robinson. That didn’t go well for the team as they failed to take the wickets in the end.

James Anderson admitted that he didn’t enjoy even a single ball but the last few days have been good for him. His body has recovered well and is flying to next week.

He explained: I didn’t enjoy one of them. It wasn’t my favourite Test match to play in, to be honest. Obviously, you want to contribute to the team and I just didn’t feel like it was my best week. For me, the last few days have been good to be able to switch off, let the body recover and go into next week flying.”

England added Rehan Ahmed to the squad as a cover for Moeen Ali, who got himself injured in the first Test at Edgbaston. The youngster has done well in the game that he has played and would be looking to add more to his tally at Lord’s.

James Anderson said that Rehan Ahmed has got a good head on his shoulders and has the ability to learn quickly. He hailed his temperament and backed him to do a good job.

He continued. “If anyone is at that age, he is. He’s got a really good head on his shoulders. He’s done really well in all forms of cricket when he’s come in. He learns quickly, he’s got the skills to be able to play at this level and he’s got the temperament as well. I know he’s cover but even if he did get the ball thrown to him, I’m sure he’ll do a great job.”

The second Test of the Ashes 2023 is slated to take place on June 28th. England would be hoping for a better result in the second game and level the series 1-1.
