England opener Zack Crawley is quite optimistic about his side winning the second match of the Ashes 2023 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. He believes that the pitch will suit them and they will be the winner by 150 runs and will level the series 1-1.

The Ashes 2023 started on a high note as the first Test between England And Australia went down the wire and saw the Pat Cummins-led side clinching the game by the margin of just 2 wickets. The hosts dominated the game for the majority of the Test but such was the class of Australia that even after being down they managed to win.

The focus now shifts towards the third game that will be played from 28th June at the home of cricket at Lord’s in London. The big question remains that even after the loss will England continue to play with the same Bazball approach? Skipper Ben Stokes was quite bold and said that they will continue playing the same.

On the other hand, Australia with their old classic approach was not at their best in the first game but still managed to win the game. They would be hoping to extend the lead and register yet another famous win at the home of cricket in London.

Zack Crawley made a bold remark, saying that they took the loss far better than other defeats and they were very positive about winning the second game. He feels that with the brand of cricket England displayed in the first game, they gained a lot of respect. Speaking to Times radio, he elaborated:

“I think we’ll win. I think it will suit us a bit more, that pitch. So I think we’ll win by, I don’t know, 150 runs? That’s why we took [this loss] better than other losses perhaps, because it was great for the game. I think Sky had record viewing figures, Test Match Special had record listening figures, so this week was a great week for cricket and that’s what we’re all about.

“We’re not about results. We always talk about that. We’re not about winning or losing: we’re about entertainment. Of course, we’re there to win and it helps our brand and what we’re trying to do. If we win, we get more traction. But I don’t think we’ve lost anything this week other than a game of cricket, which is [the first in] a five-match series. But other than that, we’ve gained a lot of respect. We gained lots of support and I think it’s great for the game.”

Ashes 2023: “There was definitely part of me that was thinking, ‘If it’s there, I’m going to try and hit for four, send a message,” Zack Crawley on first-ball four

Zack Crawley was decent with the bat in the first Test at Edgbaston. He made 61 and 7. But what caught the attention of many, he smashed a four on the first ball of the Ashes 2023 and send a strong statement.

Zack Crawley talked about the same and said that he had it in his mind and was lucky that the ball struck the middle. He also talked about the atmosphere that will be at the Lord’s. He explained:

“There was definitely part of me that was thinking, ‘If it’s there, I’m going to try and hit for four, send a message. Thankfully it was in a decent spot to hit for four and yeah, I got lucky, it hit the middle of my bat.

“The Edgbaston crowd was so loud, to be honest with you, that you genuinely couldn’t hear anything they were saying. At Lord’s, with a little bit more of a quiet hum, you might hear a bit more.” He concluded.
