Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen opened up about Joe Root’s reverse scoops in the ongoing first Test of the Ashes 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He believes that the batter might have developed those shots during his stint with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Joe Root has had a fantastic Test match with the bat at Edgbaston. The batter smashed a sensational unbeaten ton in the first innings and then followed it up with another decent knock, piling up 46 runs in the second innings against the threatening Australian attack.

However, he didn’t stop there as he executed similar shots against Scott Boland in the next over.

Kevin Pietersen said that the sky is the limit for Joe Root and hailed his work ethic, saying that he wants to improve every morning. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

“The sky is the limit for Root with the brain he has and also his work ethic, which is like none other. With 11,000 Test runs, he could be, ‘I’ve got enough, I could swan around, get a hundred, watch everyone the next morning warm up and play football with the lads’. No, no. Every single morning Root is out there wanting to improve. We are lucky enough to watch a master and long may that continue.”
