Team India skipper, Rohit Sharma jokingly said he should be ready for captaincy whenever he is handed over the opportunity after India lifted the Asia Cup 2018.

It was a nail-biting thriller which went to the final delivery of the match. It was a great performance by India which saw them lift yet another Asia Cup title. Bangladesh fought valiantly but fell agonizingly close in the end, as Kedar Jadhav struck a boundary in the final delivery to dash the hopes of Bangladeshis.

Rohit Sharma was pretty impressed with how India performed in the tournament. He lauded the team for being able to adjust themselves to the tough conditions in Dubai. Some of the players were coming from England, and hence it was a great effort from the boys to fight it out in the hit. He also heaped praise on the Indian spinners who have done their job quite consistently for the last 6-8 months.

“Definitely. We have just won, and I will surely be ready. Whenever the opportunity comes, I will be ready. It’s a young team that we brought here. Not many boys had the experience of playing in these conditions. The conditions here were hot. It was not easy for some of the boys because they had come from England and it is very easy to get used to the conditions.

I think overall the preparation in the tournament was good. We haven’t played in these conditions before. I think it was a big challenge for us. The conditions we played were quite slow, and there was help for the slower bowlers. I think our spinners bowled well throughout the tournament,” Rohit Sharma said during the post-match press conference.

He added that the spinners has been consistent for a longer period of time which has helped the team put up an impressive performance on a consistent basis.

“It is not that they have performed in one or two matches but have performed consistently in the tournament so far. Even today if you see, the way Bangladesh started in the first 10-15 overs and after that, it was the spinners which brought us back into the game. Our spinners performance in the last 6-8 months has been consistent, it been a positive sign. I think they understood the conditions really well and bowled accordingly,” Rohit Sharma said.
