Initially, ahead of the Asia Cup 2018, one was expected that it would be tough for India without the services of Virat Kohli at number 3 and as a captain. However, it was a cakewalk for the Indian team under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. He led the team gracefully which left everyone fell in love with his captaincy. The latest addition to the list is Waqar Younis.

The Pakistan former great showered words of praise on Rohit Sharma for leading the team nicely. He quoted that supervising the team in absence of Virat Kohli has been a massive achievement by the Mumbaikar.

The swing master Waqar Younis quoted that Rohit Sharma has always got the ingredients in him to be the best in the business. Further, he added that the flamboyant batsman has done well in IPL and carried it on the International format as well.

He went on to give his praises by hailing Rohit Sharma’s calm and composed approach. And also, he feels that Rohit Sharma got the great ability in letting the players play their game freely.

“See, Virat Kohli is Virat Kohli. You cannot really challenge that. But I think even without him this Indian team has really done well in the Asia Cup. Virat makes a massive difference at number three. But without Virat in the tournament, I think Rohit has done a wonderful job,” Waqar Younis said in an interview with Khaleej Times.

”He is very calm. His captaincy is growing every day. I have seen him do the captaincy in IPL as well. He is very calm and likes to allow people to make their own decisions. He allows people to make their moves. He is a wonderful captain,” he further added.

However, as Waqar Younis said, Rohit Sharma has done exceptionally well in the absence of Virat Kohli. India finished the tournament without losing a single game apart from the draw game against Afghanistan.
