Asia Cup 2018: Tickets for Much-Awaited Tournament Goes on Sale

The ticket sales for the Asia Cup 2018 slated in the Dubai International Stadium and Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium will commence on Monday, 20th August.

The tournament will get played at this two venues from September 15. The finale, however, will get played on 28th September.

India will reach the country a bit late than the others, as they will finish their Test series against England on 11th September. Hence there will be a delay.

The agreement was signed by Shaikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister for Tolerance and the Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board. They tied up with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials to stage the Asia Cup on behalf of the BCCI. Preparations are well on course to stage the six-nation competition.

The tickets are priced as low as Dh20 while the maximum is Dh750 in order to ensure that there is a good turnout all through the tournament. The vice chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board Khalid Zarooni wants to ensure that there is a thrilling atmosphere inside the ground which will host the Asia Cup.

“We are proud to host the 2018 Asia Cup in the UAE, which promises to be a thrilling festival of cricket with some of the world’s best players battling it out on the field. The game of cricket is hugely popular here in the UAE, and we are sure there will be a fantastic atmosphere in the stands as well as great entertainment on the field throughout the tournament,” he said.

Six teams will be participating in the Asia Cup

The six participating teams in the tournament are defending champions India, runners up-Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the nation who won the Asia Cup Qualifiers. The India Pakistan clash will be held at the Dubai International Stadium on 19th September and is expected to  be a sell out. They two teams will be playing in UAE after a gap of 12 years.

ECB’s general secretary Mubashshir Usmani while speaking to Gulf News said that they will strive to make the Asia Cup a memorable one.

“We will strive to make this Asia Cup the most memorable one. We are excited to host the Asia Cup in UAE and will be biggest cricket event to be hosted here.  Sure to witness epic battles and hence we are working closely with Dubai and Abu Dhabi to ensure that everything is ready for the success of the event.”
