Asia Cup 2018: Tie Shows the Value of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan - Ajit Agarkar

The former India fast bowler, Ajit Agarkar has always been vocal on giving his bold opinions. The former great highlighted the importance of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in the Indian team after the tied game against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2018.

India, who played with non-regular members in the side failed to pocket the game against Afghanistan in Dubai on Tuesday. They sweated out to yield a draw against Afghanistan which clearly showed the importance of the regular players.

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will make the starts count – Ajit Agarkar.

The former Indian fast bowler quoted KL Rahul, and Ambati Rayudu got the decent starts in the chase. But they left them alone without staying in the crease to finish the things. It was not the case with Dhawan or Rohit in the earlier matches of Asia Cup 2018 as one or the other stayed till the end.

Further, the Mumbai selector quoted the team is dependent on Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma at the top-order. Ajit Agarkar also highlighted the fact stating the player needs to win the game, especially, when he is fighting for the place.

”Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are the difference for the sudden fall. KL Rahul and Ambati Rayudu played well but one of them need to continue to secure the win. That is the difference between them to Rohit and Shikhar. When you are fighting for a place, you need to play and win the game for the team,” Ajit Agarkar said to ESPN Cricinfo.

However, Ajit Agarkar has a valid point in his kitty. Nonetheless, India will field their best XI for the final of Asia Cup 2018, and the pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma will be back in their roles as well.
