Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram slammed the poor performance of Sarfraz Ahmed-led side. Pakistan was once again blown away like a wind by India as the latter won convincingly by nine wickets. It was once more a one-sided affair as India dominated Pakistan completely. In fact, India had also won the first match between the nemesis by eight wickets.

Thus, Wasim Akram is disappointed to see Pakistan get maul over. The former captain believes win or loss is part of the game, however, the manner in which Pakistan has lost is not acceptable. Furthermore, Pakistan is more familiar with the UAE conditions as they play most of their cricket in these conditions. However, they haven’t been able to deliver the goods despite having this advantage.

The Sultan of swing believes Sarfraz Ahmed should have bowled first after winning the toss.

“They were equally bad in every aspect of the game. It was a below-par performance by Pakistan. They should have known the conditions and should have bowled first. It’s their home ground,” Akram told India Today in an exclusive chat.

Akram went on to add that it is disappointing to note such a one-sided affair. Meanwhile, Akram also praised India for ticking the right boxes despite without the services of Virat Kohli.

“It’s very disappointing, disheartening. I can understand winning and losing is part of the game but not like this. This has been a just one-horse race. India has been just incredible in this Asia Cup without their main player, without their captain”.

On the other hand, Wasim Akram believes Pakistan should play against more competitive sides as playing against Zimbabwe and Windies will not help them improve their game.

“Pakistan need to sit down and revisit their schedule. I am all for promotion of the game, I am all for going to Zimbabwe playing 5 one days and three T20s. Paying West Indies in UAE but that’s not going to improve their cricket. They might improve their records but not cricket”.

Furthermore, former king of reverse swing praised India for their dominating display in the ongoing Asia Cup. Akram went on to heap praise on Indian captain Rohit Sharma and his opening Shikhar Dhawan.

“I think Rohit Sharma did a great job as skipper. He is leading from the front, he’s getting runs and consistent runs and with ease. With him, Shikhar Dhawan is playing equally good. They are making things look so comfortable when they come out to bat. They look so calm and I think they have got every shot in their book. In the bowling department, India have variations, they have pace and their fielding has been superb. Overall, there’s only one team that has looked miles ahead of other teams and that’s India,” Akram said.

India has been dominated in every sphere of the game whereas Pakistan has looked out of sorts in the ongoing Asia Cup. Men in Blue will take on Afghanistan in their next fixture whereas Pakistan will play a virtual semifinal against Bangladesh.
