Any cricket match between India and Pakistan is not limited to cricket field. It transcends boundaries and people from both the sides of the border make their presence felt. Recently, both the teams locked horns in World Cup and the social media was flooded with messages from both sets of nationalities. Honourable Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also joined bandwagon by congratulating the team in his own way.

Mr Shah likened the result of Sunday’s cricket match to the air strike in Balakot in February. Indian Air Force had carried out a surgical strike in the Pakistan territory, killing a number of terrorists.

“Another strike on Pakistan by #TeamIndia and the result is same. Congratulations to the entire team for this superb performance. Every Indian is feeling proud and celebrating this impressive win. #INDvPAK,” Mr Shah tweeted on Sunday soon after the match.

Pakistan military’s chief spokesperson, Asif Ghafoor has now responded to Mr Shah’s tweet. Ghafoor, who has a knack of giving more importance to India rather than his own country, started giving his own version of the air strike. In a country where their Prime Minister gives tips to the cricket team on what to do and what not that too only against India, Ghafoor felt it necessary to remind Mr Shah of not comparing cricket and the air strike.

“Dear @AmitShah yes ur team won a match. Well played. Two things with different denominators can’t be compared. So are strikes & match. If in doubt please see results of our Nowshera counter strikes & response to IAF violation on 27 Feb 19 downing two Indian jets. Stay Surprised.”

In another tweet, Ghafoor, who looked very much hurt with Mr Shah’s crisp and fine tweet, wrote:

“P.S. ‘…and the result is same?’ IAF strikes failed, two IAF jets shot down, a pilot arrested, Mi17 fratricide, four broad day light successful PAF Noushera counter air strikes, massive casualties along LOC and damage to Indian posts & artillery gun positions… Doctor please…”

Well, it seems like the heavy defeat has affected Ghafoor deeply.  India completely destroyed a hapless Pakistan side on the field on Sunday. The Men in Blue thrashed their arch-rivals by 89 runs (DLS method) to continue their winning run against them in World Cup. India are now looking well set to make it to the semifinal. On the other hand, Pakistan are now looking destined for a humiliating exit from the tournament.
