The focus is currently on Team India’s next coaching staff. Ravi Shastri & Co. will be out of contract by the time India’s tour of West Indies comes to an end. Their contract would have ended after the World Cup only but the BCCI handed them a 45-day extension. The process for the selection of the coach has started already.

The BCCI has already advertised for the post of all coaches – head coach, batting coach, bowling coach and fielding coach. The current staff has had a good stint with the Indian team. Ravi Shastri took over as head coach in mid-2017 and had Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar and R Sridhar as his colleagues. Arun served as the bowling coach, Bangar as the batting coach and Sridhar as fielding coach.

The Indian cricket fraternity is now busy speculating who would be the India’s next coaches. So before BCCI finally appoint the men, we take a look at a team which can be nothing less than a dream

4. Fielding coach – Jonty Rhodes

Jonty Rhodes is one of the best if not the best fielders to have graced the game. He is arguably the only player in the history of the game who made a name for himself as a fielder more than as a batsman or bowler. He has an ample experience in coaching. The former South Africa star was Mumbai Indians’ fielding coach for nine years from 2009 to 2017.

3. Bowling coach – Zaheer Khan:

Zaheer Khan needs little introduction. One of the greatest pacers of this generation, Zaheer can be the perfect man to coach India’s highly-talented bowlers. Zaheer bowed out of the game as one of India’s most decorated pacers. With 610 international wickets, Zaheer finished as India’s fourth-highest wicket-taker across formats. He has the second-highest wickets tally – 311 – for an India pacer in Tests.

2. Batting coach – Mahela Jayawardene:

Mahela Jayawardene is one of the greatest batsmen to have played for Sri Lanka. Jayawardene represented Sri Lanka in more than 600 games across formats. In 2011, he led helped them to the final of the World Cup and had also scored a ton in the final.

Three years later, he helped the Islanders win the World T20 by beating India in the final. Jayawardene is one of the finest batsmen to have represented Sri Lanka. He scored 11,814 runs in 149 Tests at an average of above 50. In ODIs, he scored 12,650 runs in 448 games while in T20Is, he scored 1,493 runs. He also has a good coaching experience, having coached Mumbai Indians to two IPL titles in last three years.

1. Head coach – Tom Moody:

Tom Moody needs no introduction as a coach. He first made a name for himself by guiding Sri Lanka to the final of the 2007 World Cup. His reputation was then further enhanced when he took over as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s coach in 2012.  Over the course of 2013-2019, Sunrisers Hyderabad have reached the qualifier rounds five times and won the championship in 2016.

Moody is not only a brilliant tactical coach but is also vastly experienced. With the Indian team oozing with talented youngsters, the Australia could be the perfect man to guide them.
