Australia pushed Indian National Cricket team on the backfoot as they removed opener Murali Vijay after posting 326 runs on the morning session of day two at Perth.

Meanwhile, in reply to Australia’s first innings score of 326, the visitors lost Vijay at the stroke of lunch. The perfect start Australia would have wanted for as Mitchell Starc nipped one back in to break Vijay’s defence to rattle his stumps. Moreover, the opening pair had been a problem for India and it continues to even in Perth as they went to lunch at six for 1.

Previously, starting the day on 277 for six, Cummins along with skipper Tim Paine showed enough grit to extend the first innings score. The duo showed temperament against a potent line-up to bring up the 300 runs for Australia. This is the first time in the last seven innings, the hosts have managed to scale the 300-run mark. In addition to, the duo also brought their fifty-run stand for the seventh wicket.

But once the floodgates opened with Umesh Yadav dismissing Pat Cummins, India was all over the hosts. Jasprit Bumrah came to the party to remove skipper Paine to pave way for a great turnaround. Although Paine went for a review, it went in vain with the tracker showing three red signals. Ishant Sharma then cleaned up the tail with two back to back wicket to finish the innings at 326 after a good show on day one.

Australia will be pretty happy with their batting effort after the first Test and will now look upto their bowlers. On the other hand, India will want another monumental knock from Cheteshwar Pujara to bail India out.
