As ever, the ongoing Test series between Australia and India also attracting for the kind of pitches they are playing on. Apart from the Adelaide Test, the second and Third Test at Perth and MCG respectively caught all the eyeballs. Meanwhile, the former Australian Ian Chappell expresses his concern on the MCG Pitch.

The first day of the MCG pitch was completely supportive to the batting side while the second day has seen a dramatic difference. Australian bowlers got exceptional help from the wicket to put Indians in a worrying situation.

Ian Chappell questions the consistency of the MCG Pitch:

Meanwhile, Ian Chappell termed that it was the weirdest pitch that he has ever seen in his entire cricketing life. Ian added that he never witnessed such a dramatic change in the span of just 1 day where bowlers are bowling with their tail up.

Further, Ian Chappell has questioned the consistency of the under-fire MCG pitch. After just two wickets and 215 runs were scored on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test, Chappell told Macquarie Sports Radio’s Summer of Cricket he was shocked by the unexpected nature of the surface.

“I’ve never seen a pitching change so drastically in a short period of time,” he said. This is the weirdest pitch I’ve ever seen – I’ve never seen a track where the ball bounces twice before getting to (the wicketkeeper) and then suddenly even in the second hour, the ball started to go through a bit.”

Well, it would be interesting to see how the pitch would behave in the remaining three days of time. It already became a tough surface to bat, which would certainly push the home side in a spot of bother.

Even though if they escape the danger in their first innings, it needs some exceptional knocks to bail out the respective sides in the third and fourth innings of the game.
