Former Australia cricketer Glenn McGrath shared high praise for team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah saying he is an excellent modern-day pacer following his heroics in the opening Test against Australia.

Meanwhile, India went 1-0 up in their four-Test series against Australia, wrapping up a hard-fought 31-run win in Adelaide. The Adelaide victory is India’s first win in the last ten years and the sixth Test win overall. Jasprit Bumrah played a pivotal role, picking six wickets in the Tests.

However, Shaun Marsh’s (60) wicket was the most valuable among all who got a faint edge to Rishabh Pant. Australia lost their top-scorer which left India with no doubts whatsoever about victory. Glenn McGrath, who has worked with Indian pacers before, shared high praise for Bumrah.

Bumrah is fantastic. He runs in smoothly and increases his momentum nicely. His follow through is fine too,” McGrath said.

In addition to, the former Australian pace great had no hesitation in calling Bumrah a complete bowler.

He is an excellent modern-day bowler. He intelligently varies his length and speed and does so at will. Of course, his yorkers are good and his bouncers are deceptive,” he added.

However, Glenn McGrath feared that Jasprit Bumrah may suffer from back injuries due to his awkward bowling run-up.

“The way he runs in and the manner in which he uses his back, the chances of getting injured are less. He has been consistently good and is a great asset for India,” McGrath signed off.

The second Test of the four-match Test series between India and Australia will commence from December 14 at Perth.
