Indian National Cricket team will miss their premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the upcoming Test match against Australia at Perth starting from December 14 (Friday). Along with him, middle-order bat Rohit Sharma will also miss the second of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series.

While Rohit jarred his back while fielding in the first Test, Ashwin is struggling with an abdominal strain on his left side. The off-spinner was key to India’s win at Adelaide returning with six crucial wickets. In addition to, he picked the last Aussie wicket to hand India the win when things started paling out for the visitors.

This will be a huge blow for Virat Kohli & Co, who has now brought in Ravindra Jadeja in the 12-member squad as his replacement. The left-arm spinner is an experienced customer and knows what to do in this situations.

Although Rohit Sharma didn’t make a great impact in the first Test, he is a dangerous customer in bouncy pitches. His ability to cut and pull the short deliveries makes him apart from the rest. Hanuma Vihari, who made his debut in England will slot in Sharma’s place. The young batsman made a significant debut in England and had to sit out in the first Test to accommodate Rohit Sharma.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw, who suffered an ankle injury during the practice game is still recovering and will miss the Perth Test.
