Australia vs India 2018: Watch Ajinkya Rahane Perishes While Chasing a Wide Ball

India’s deputy Ajinkya Rahane tried to chase a wide ball from Australia’s vice-captain Josh Hazlewood, only to found his edge. Subsequently, Peter Handscomb took a good catch with his fingers pointing towards the sky. Rahane went for the expensive drive on an innocuous delivery and it was a disappointing shot from the Indian vice-captain.

India had already lost three wickets and Rahane should have been more guile in his batting approach. However, it wasn’t to be the case as India have found themselves behind the eighth-ball. In fact, Ajinkya Rahane was aggressive in his approach, which was a tad surprising. Thus, Australia has put themselves in a commanding position and the visitors have their backs against the wall.

It was a poor shot from India’s vice-captain.

In fact, all the Indian batsmen were dismissed while chasing the ball. The out-of-form KL Rahul was the first to go as Josh Hazlewood was right on the money with his length. Mitchell Starc was able to give Australia their second breakthrough when Murali Vijay went for the expensive cover drive.

Pat Cummins took just three balls to take out the big wicket of Virat Kohli. Usman Khawaja took a splendid one-handed catch while fielding at the gully position.

Thus, Australia has put their noses in front as they have scalped four wickets in the opening session. Meanwhile, India was speculated as favourites before the Test series. However, Australia was able to take the first session.

The onus is on Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara to rescue India out of the troubled waters. Pujara is fighting it out as he is the only one who has faced more than 50 balls. Meanwhile, it is going to be a pivotal test for Rohit Sharma.
