KL Rahul, the newly appointed vice-captain of the national limited-overs team, uploaded a video on a social media platform where he and the rest of his teammates are training in a gym session ahead of the ODI series against Australia.

Australia will host India for six white-ball games and four Test matches. The 3 ODIs commences on 27th November followed by 3 T20Is.  The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar series will begin on 17th December with a pink-ball day-night Test in Adelaide followed by the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, New Year’s Test in Sydney, and the last Test match in Australia’s fortress, Brisbane.

KL Rahul to do wicket-keeping; Rishabh Pant not in the white-ball squad

Rohit Sharma has been rested from the T20I and ODI series to recover from an injury he sustained during the IPL. In Rohit’s absence, the Karnataka lad has been named the deputy to skipper, Virat Kohli.

KL Rahul had been in phenomenal form in white-ball cricket since the World Cup last year. But he was dropped from the Test team after his disappointing performances in his last 3 Test series. However, the 28-year-old has made a comeback in the Test side on the back of a tremendous IPL season where he bagged the orange cap. While Kings XI Punjab couldn’t make it to the playoffs, their skipper consistently piled runs.

Rahul had a forgettable tour to Australia a couple of years ago as he could manage only 57 runs in 5 innings. While the right-hander may not open this time, he could slot into the eleven when Virat Kohli leaves after the first Test in Adelaide. This second-coming could also be the last chance in Test cricket for the 28-year-old, and he would hope to grab it with both hands.

The right-hander has been the regular wicket-keeper since January instead of Rishabh Pant. Rahul kept wickets on the entire limited-overs leg on the tour of New Zealand while Pant was benched. Not only Pant is not the first-choice keeper anymore, but he is also ousted from the white-ball squad to face Australia. However, Pant, who scored a hundred on the previous tour to Australia is part of the Test squad.

The stylish opener took to Twitter and uploaded a video of a team gym session. Hardik Pandya is also seen in his displaying his tough physique.

On his Twitter video, KL Rahul wrote the caption, “Loving the group training sessions. Had been too long since we all did that,” KL Rahul captioned the video.
