Australia leg-spinner, Mitchell Swepson has stated he is ready to make his experiences of playing in India count and put his case for national selection.

Swepson is one of the three spinners who will be in the radar to impress the national selectors on Australia A tour of India. He will be hoping to earn his maiden baggy green for the Test series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in October.

It will be a big series for Mitchell Swepson

Nathan Lyon will spearhead the Australian spin attack including Swepson, Ashton Agar and Jon Holland. Moreover, the national selectors will be tempted to include three spinners in the squad. Also, Mitchell Starc and fast bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will be hoping to get fit ahead of the series.

However, the leg-spinner’s immediate goal is to shine in the quadrangular series against South Africa A, India A and India B. First three matches of the one-day series got abandoned due to incessant rain.

However, the tournament is expected to begin on Thursday, as the venue of late got shifted to Bengaluru.

The tourists will also play a couple of four day matches against India A next month.

I think it’s massive series for everyone. Obviously, the UAE tour is coming up. A lot of people will be wanting to press their case for that. I certainly will be,” Swepson said.

“But, for me, it’s always been the same – I have not looked too far ahead. Look at the next game, do the best I can for the team and, if we get performances as a team, then the individual performances will be there. If that happens to be me, then so be it, that would be great. If not, hopefully, I can just do a role for the team.”

Mitchell Swepson had earlier got help from the legendary Shane Warne. He had a strong first-class season under the guidance of Warne. The leggie also had his moments in the Big Bash League. He eventually made his T20I debut in Birmingham in June.
