Pakistan’s limited-overs captain Babar Azam has hit out at his compatriot and former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed after the latter said that the batsman should work on his English and personality.

His comments came after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Babar Azam as the captain of the ODI team too. The right-handed batsman was named the T20I captain last year.
“Try to improve your personality. By personality, I mean a person can change his dressing sense. Babar Azam also needs to improve his English, which is necessary. Whenever someone becomes a captain, he has to talk during the toss and post-match presentation. Plus, he will also give interviews on various channels when he tours different countries,” Ahmed he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Well, it is safe to say that Babar Azam was not very amused with Ahmed’s suggestions. Speaking to journalists via video conference, the Pakistan star said that his main job is to play cricket. He also insisted that he is working on his English.
“I’m a cricketer, my job is to play cricket. I am not a ‘gora,’ who knows English completely. Yes, I am working on it, but you learn these things over a period of time, you can’t just suddenly learn it,” said Babar Azam.
As far as cricket is concerned, Babar Azam continues to impress on the cricket field. He is world’s number 1 T20I batsman and has been doing well in ODIs and Tests too. The Pakistan batting mainstay averages over 45 in all the formats. The 25-year old ranks 5th in the ICC Test rankings, while in ODI he is sitting at the 3rd position.
