Babar Azam has shouldered the burden of scoring runs for Pakistan across format with ease. As a result, he is compared with the likes of one of the finest cricketers of the generation Virat Kohli. His success in international cricket has bore fruits for him with his board further appointing him as the captain of the limited-overs side.
Pakistan are scheduled to resume their cricket season in England and has shown willingness to send their squad for the Test and T20I series starting in July. The three-Test series against England is slated to get underway from July 30 with the final match to conclude on August 24.
The T20I series, which will test the captaincy of Babar Azam in overseas conditions, will take place from August 29 to September 2. Pakistan have played in the shortest format regularly and Babar Azam has scored to the fore, the series will act as massive test for him, under testing conditions.
Ramiz Raja: Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson are role models; Babar Azam can learn from their captaincy models
Prominent cricket commentator Ramiz Raja has said that Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli are ‘role models’ in international cricket and their is a lot Babar Azam can learn from their captaincy models. While Virat Kohli has a strong body language and is passionate on the field, Kane Williamson is a slow individual and does not gets emotional, Ramiz Raja suggested.
“There are two role models in international cricket from he can learn, understand – first is Virat Kohli’s captaincy model, which is aggressive. He has strong body language, he is passionate and emotional on the cricket. It enhances his performance with that sort of body language and challenges his team. He is getting glorious results from these aggressive captaincy tactics,” Raja said.
“The second model is Kane Williamson model – New Zealand’s captain. A slow individual, he does captaincy slowly, doesn’t get emotional on the cricket field. He doesn’t have a strong body language like Kohli but follows the process. His selection is brilliant,” he added.
Azam has scored at an average of 50 in the shortest format of the game.
