Babar Azam has emerged by leaps and bounds in the past two seasons. The current Pakistan T20I captain is hailed as the next big thing in international cricket and conversations of him being in the same league as India’s Virat Kohli or the rest of the members of the Fab-4 in Steven Smith, Kane Willamson, Joe Root has already started to galore.
Babar has been a consistent run-maker in the short forms of the game. He averages over in One-day International cricket since the start of 2017 and is also the No. ranked T20I batsman in the world. And, he has begun to show his true worth in Test cricket too after having struggled initially.

My gosh, he is something special- Tom Moody on Babar Azam
The right-hander has smashed four hundreds in his last five Test innings which also includes a three-figure score in Australia. Heaping high praise on the Pakistani superstar, former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody has reckoned that he will be in the list of top-five batsmen in the next five-ten years.
“He [Babar] has emerged over the last year or so into something that is going to be so special. We talked about how Virat Kohli is so good on the eye as a batsman. If you think Virat Kohli is good to watch, have a look at Babar Azam bat. My gosh, he is something special. I think in the next five to ten years, he will definitely be in your top five [batsmen of the decade] without a question,” Moody was quoted as saying by CricketPakistan.
One of the debates going on these days is whether Babar deserves to be included in the Fab-4. Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousaf recently named Babar Azam amongst the Fab-4 alongside Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, and Kane Williamson. But Moody thinks it is is too early to include Azam in the same list.
“Even though he [Babar] has played 26 matches but in half of those matches he was not considered even part of the main batting line-up for Pakistan. He was the after-thought down the order. I think at the moment, it is very hard to justify him at that position given his statistics,” Tom Moody said.

Babar Azam has all the talent in the world to become one of the greats of all time? But will he achieve what he is being pipped for? Only time will tell!
