Bangladesh All-Rounder Mohammad Saifuddin To Miss India T20I Series: Report
Bangladesh pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin is all but set to miss the upcoming T20I series against India due to a back problem. As per a report in Cricbuzz, he is yet to recover from the back issues which have seen him a part of international fixtures since World Cup 2019. He made his return for the home tri-series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan and was expected to be fit for India series as well.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to confirm the news and is expected to name his replacement soon.
Saifuddin has played 13 T20Is so far in which he as 12 wickets and has scored 108 runs. In the four matches he played during the tri-series, the right-arm pacer scalped seven wickets.
The India-Bangladesh series kicks off on November 3 with the first game to be played in Delhi. The second and third T20I will be on November 7 and 10 in Rajkot and Nagpur, respectively.
The series will also see the comeback of Tamim Iqbal, who had taken a break after the Sri Lanka ODIs. Shakib-al-Hasan will continue to lead the team.
There were talks that the board might discuss captaincy options but with him not available due to his Caribbean Premier League commitment, no talks were held regarding captaincy.
India, meanwhile, could field a squad sans Virat Kohli. Multiple reports have suggested that the Indian skipper is set to miss the T20I series. In his absence, Rohit Sharma will lead the squad once again.
Sanju Samson is in line to be recalled to the T20I side while Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube could get his maiden national call-up.
The two teams are also scheduled to play a two-match Test series after the three T20Is. The two matches will be played in Indore and Kolkata from November 14 and 22, respectively.
