The 6th T20I of Nidahas Trophy saw Bangladesh and Sri Lanka clash against each other for a spot in the finals of the tournament. The enthralling game saw the Tigers emerge victorious with a handsome six from Mahmudullah who scored the winning run in the penultimate ball of the match.

However, in the final over of the match, the game took an ugly turn as Lankans and Bangladeshis indulged in an on-field tiff. The matter almost escalated as Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan called back his batsmen, denying them to participate further in the match.

The disgrace to the game was further aggravated as the players from the winning team decided to wreck carnage into the dressing room of R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Evidently, the Tigers, broke the glass panes of the dressing room, wild in celebrations. As it is, Shakib’s and his players’ sportsmanship spirit was in question due to the on-field antics. This act of hooliganism further brought disrespect to the country’s cricketing culture.

Here’s the evidence

It all started with a short delivery from Isuru Udana which Mustafizur missed. The square leg umpire forgot to signal his partner at the bowling end. Therefore, the subsequent short pitch delivery, which Mustafizur missed again, created quite a chaos in the middle.

Due to the miscommunication, Bangladesh thought the second delivery was a no-ball. But, as the signal did not reach the umpire at the bowling end, the bowl was deemed as a legitimate delivery.

The run out of the Rahman in the second delivery added fuel to the fire as Shakib al Hasan protested against the proceedings, claiming about the no-ball. One thing led to another and the Sri Lankans and Bangladesh players were involved in an on-field tussle.
