There comes the major blow for Rangpur Riders in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2019. They have lost the services of Alex Hales for the remaining part of the tournament, as he sustained a shoulder injury. Now, he will return back to his country to get the surgery done and be available ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.

Rangpur Rider, who started the tournament on a bleak note has made significant strides in the later part of the tournament. Alex Hales has been one of the contributors for the team in their success. The injury comes in as a big blow, as they are entering into the next level of the tournament.

Alex Hales had a significant impact: Tom Moody

Speaking of the injury, the head coach Tom Moody quoted that it is tough to lose a player like Alex Hales and acknowledged his contribution. Further, he revealed that England and Wales Cricket Board asked Hales to return for the scans.

‘”We got the news last night and he required going back to London to have some specialist opinion on his left shoulder,” Moody was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

”He hurt his left shoulder last game during his batting and not in fielding and the English Cricket Board requested that he get some further advice and get an MRI and scan. Unfortunately, that’s the end of his tournament with us and obviously he had a significant impact and great value to us,” he added.

Alex Hales has made brilliant contributions with the bat in the second half of the tournament. He knocked 85 not out, 100, 55 and 33 respectively in his last four games to help Rangpur Riders seal the momentum.

Currently, Rangpur Riders are at top of the points table with 14 points in their kitty. They would probably enter the next level of the tournament but will surely miss the English batsman.

They are left with one game against Comilla Victorians in the league stage, which is set to be played on February 2nd at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
