BBL 2017/18: Twitter Reacts as Brisbane Heat Beats Melbourne Stars by 15 Runs
Updated - 20 Dec 2017, 07:20 PM
Brisbane Heat held on to their nerves as Melbourne Stars fell 15 runs short of the huge target posted by the Heat. Melbourne Stars won the toss and chose to field first. However, the decision backfired for the Stars as Brendon McCullum scored 22 balls 40 to give a quick start to the hosts. Joe Burns and Alex Ross scored 50 and 51 respectively to take the total to 206/7. Ben Cutting scored a very helpful 35 in 18 down the order.
For Stars Marcus Stoinis picked three wickets in his quota of four overs. Michael Beer also chipped in with two wickets.
The Stars started poorly in the run chase as they lost Ben Dunk for a 0 early in the innings. Kevin Pietersen, Luke Wright and Glen Maxwell got out in order to accelerate the run rate. Marcus Stoinis and James Faulkner were then involved in a 137 runs partnership. Stoinis fell short by one run of a well deserved hundred. Faulkner scored 47 runs. Stars scored 191/6 in their 20 overs.
Shadab Khan picked up two wickets on his BBL debut.
Let’s have a look at how Twitter reacted to the high scoring match between the two teams.

McCullum being a senior pro there. Takes a great catch just above the ground, so he tells the umpires he's not sure just so everyone can see 20 replays of it.
You can't teach that. #BBL07

Another excellent match in the Big Bash tonight. Marcus Stoinis has developed into a first class player. His 99 would've won most matches for his team but the Heat simply had too many on the board. McCullum so important for the @HeatBBL #BBL2017

Take out the Cutting over and it’s a comfortable win. Great to see us actually defend a high total though, fuck we blow a lot of those good scores. #TurnUpTheHeat #BBL2017

Stoinis though an exceptional player…hasn't tasted much success in IPL. Needs to be seen if #KXIP will retain him or not. #BBL2017

We should be winning a world t20 world cup with our players! #BBL2017
