Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Stars have availed the services of England all-rounder Liam Plunkett for the upcoming edition of the T20 league. Meanwhile, this will first time for Plunkett in the BBL who will replace injured Mark Parkinson.

Meanwhile, Lancashire spinner Parkinson will be unable to take part in the tournament due to a stress fracture to his back. His absence has allowed Stars to rope in Liam Plunkett, who boast a solid international experience. The all-rounder has represented England in 13 Tests, 74 ODIs and 20 T20Is and is a handy customer in the limited-overs format.

Melbourne Stars’ manager Trent Woodhill wished a speedy recovery for the spinners. He also noted it was unfortunate to miss out Parkinson, for whom it was the first season.

It’s obviously disappointing for Matt that he won’t be able to partake in what would have been his first Big Bash season,” Woodhill said to the official website. “We’d like to wish Matt a very speedy recovery,” he added.
