Melbourne Renegades are off to a flying start in the ongoing edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) after Mohammad Nabi and Daniel Christian propelled them to a five-wicket win over defending champions Adelaide Strikers.
Chasing 175, Renegades recovered well by adding 50 runs in just six overs with both Sam Harper and Cameron White looking in good touch. From 71 for 1, the Renegades suffered a massive collapse losing four wickets for the addition of just 11 runs. But the flurry of wickets didn’t deter Christian and Nabi at all. Both the batsmen hit boundaries to bring their side in line after a few loss of wickets.
The Aussie smashed a 27-ball 49 and Nabi registered a 30-ball 48 to propel the Renegades to a five-wicket win. Both all-rounders remained unbeaten till the end and their partnership accounted for 94 runs.
Previously, Matthew Short and Jonathan Wells played handy knocks to guide their team post 174 runs at the end of 20 overs. Renegades started well with to contain Adelaide Striker to 87 for 3 at the end of 13 overs. Since the duo slammed hard to take the score over 150 runs. Mohammad Nabi bagged two important wickets for the Melbourne Renegades.
Post the game, Nabi made a funny comment to praise his partner Christian, who was in the hospital Sunday morning owing to some sickness. Nabi said it was Christian in the hospital and an all-together different person who came out to bat. The 35-year-old cricketer seemed a bit rusty on the field and bowled just one over, but eventually bagged the player of the match for his efforts.
“Dan Christian, he was in hospital this morning”
“I don’t know who that is”
