Ahead of the 2018/19 season of Big Bash League, the Perth Scorchers have named Mitchell Marsh as their captain. Also, the franchise has named Cameron Bancroft on the list too. Meanwhile, the former Australia cricketer, Adam Voges is appointed the coach of the franchise too.
Micthell Marsh to lead Perth Scorchers
However, Cameron Bancroft is serving a nine-month ban for playing a role in the ball-tampering fiasco in Cape Town early this year. Bancroft is expected to make a good comeback and got named in the squad.
Previously, Marcus North was appointed as the skipper for Perth Scorchers in 2011. Simon Katich led the team in 2012-13 season, and Adam Voges was the last player who served a long season.
Shaun Marsh will have an essential role to play with Andrew Tye, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff for Perth Scorchers. Meanwhile, Shaun Marsh and Michael Klinger will be expected to lead the batting responsibility.
“To retain our core group of players has been really important for us and we’re pleased everyone has decided to stay,” Voges said.
Meanwhile, David Willey is the only overseas player who signed with Perth Scorchers and they can bring in one more international player if required.
“With WA having such a strong presence in the Australian white ball teams it means a lot of our younger players will get more opportunities for the Scorchers, and many of those guys played for us last summer so I’m excited for them to build on that experience.
“We have wanted to be consistent with our squads across all three formats, so naming Mitch as captain was a good fit. He’s an exciting leader, and I’m sure the Scorchers fans are going to be happy.” Adam Voges added.
