BCCI forgot to renew the domain before website goes offline?

In what could be termed as the embarrassing moment for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the official website was unavailable until Sunday (February 4) evening.
However, the users were irked and subsequently failed to get the access of the user-friendly website which has been one of the prime sources for the visitors – to keep themselves posted regarding the latest updates of Indian cricket in particular.
The reason why the digital platform of BCCI remained defunct for over a couple of hours?
The sole reason has been that the expiry date of the domain has caused the outrage as the renewing of the domain seemed to have gone unnoticed.
Pertinently, the domain was owned by Lalit Modi, who has served as the commissioner and the chairman of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).
Earlier, many believed the website might have been hacked but which has not been the case when bidding process from the registrar
According to the newswire, Press Trust of India, the two websites who goes by the name of Namejet.com and register.com opted for the bidding procedure which further witnessed the maximum bid of US $ 270.
Interestingly, the reports further suggested as many as seven users put forward their respective bids.
Interestingly, the lucrative Board has registered the domain for 12 years between the time period of February 2, 2006, which was scheduled to expire on February 2, 2018.
Moreover, the termination date according to the details available reflects now the expiry date is slated for February 2, 2019.
Interestingly, the unfortunate incident happened when India was facing South Africa at SuperSport Park Centurion on February 4 (Sunday).
However, as the site has gone dysfunctional exactly a year before when the updation date of the site revealed to be February 04, 2018.
Since the redesigning of the digital platform of late, the website was providing the live scores and much more which further witnessed the press releases regarding the cricket as the multimedia has been an instant hit in a country where the fans have had shown the great fascination towards the gentleman’s game.
In 2014, the website was hacked and then defaced when the message read: ‘Hacked by Ashik Iqbal Cvy’.
While filing this report, the website of the Board was up and running smoothly.
