BCCI Refuses To Send Team To Pakistan For Emerging Nations Cup
The Board for Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) has refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the upcoming Emerging Nations Cup citing security reasons. Consequently, India will play all their games in Sri Lanka while Pakistan will also host six games. The final is scheduled to be held in Colombo.
Bangladesh, UAE and Hong Kong are grouped with Pakistan for the Karachi leg of the tournament. On the other hand, India is clubbed with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Colombo.

A Pakistan Cricket Board official confirmed that the BCCI has declined to send the team to the neighbouring country. The official further said that three matches would be held at the National Stadium in Karachi which is undergoing renovation work and three others at the Southend cricket stadium.
“A proper security plan has been prepared for the visiting teams and they will be given top security throughout their stay in Karachi from December 4 to 10” said the PCB official.

Well, the latest turn of events is another setback to the already deteriorated bilateral ties between the two arch-rivals. The arch-rivals have not played a full bilateral Test series since 2007 when Pakistan visited India for three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. They played a short series of three ODIs and two T20s in India in December 2012, but otherwise, both have faced each other only in the ICC organised events or the Asia Cup.
They last played against each other in this year’s Asia Cup where India beat Pakistan in both the meetings.

The PCB had also filed a compensation case against the BCCI for not honouring the bilateral series contract. It, however, was recently dismissed by the ICC Disputes Resolution Committee.
